Wine and chocolate... a match made in heaven. How could a hot drink combining the two NOT be amazing. One thing's for sure, this cocoa recipe sure beats the heck out of a generic box of chocolates.
While this Hot Red Cocoa is the perfect Valentine's Day recipe, don't just save it for special occasions! It's quick and easy to make, so you can treat yourself whenever you'd like.
Ingredients:
Serves 4
In a saucepan over low heat, combine 6 ounces finely chopped bittersweet baking bar and ⅓ cup fruity red wine (we tried it with Pinot Noir); whisk until melted and smooth. Stir in 1 cup milk, a pinch of salt, and ⅔ cup water. Bring to a low boil and whisk for 3 minutes. Stir in 3 to 4 teaspoons sugar and ¼ cup orange juice, heating until it reaches your desired serving temperature and the sugar is dissolved.
Try it frozen! Mix as directed, then pour into a lidded container and freeze.
